UK University Students Visit Fushe Kosova on Study Tour PDF Print E-mail

On Friday, June 13, a group of students from the University of Essex (UK) visited Balkan Sunflowers’ Fushe Kosova Learning Center. The students are studying human rights and were visiting various organizations in Kosovo as part of a study tour. During the visit to FKLC, they had the opportunity to see the center in action and have a question and answer session with BSF International Coordinator Rand Engel.

Help Send Kosovo Youth to Remembrance Event in Poland PDF Print E-mail

Did you know that this year is the 70th commemoration of the Roma genocide in Europe? To mark this solemn occasion, over 1000 youth from all around Europe will come together this summer in Krakow, Poland for the Roma Genocide Remembrance Initiative . Balkan Sunflowers, along with Phiren Amenca, is planning to send over 35 young people from Kosovo to this event. You can support the initiative by contributing to our online fundraising campaign and spreading the word about this important project. Thank you for your continued interest and support!

The EDI Project Consortium partners marked International Day of the Child with children from Albanian, Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in Shtime and Fushë Kosovë on May 30 at Balkan Sunflowers Kosova’s Shtime Learning Center (SHLC).

Once Upon a Time…in a Summer Program PDF Print E-mail

The Learning Center Network is excited to include a whole week on local Roma Fairy Tales in this year’s Summer Program. Roma culture is rich in story telling tradition which is why we have invited local residents to come and read the stories to the children. During this week of the program the students will explore different fairy tales while learning that all over the world fairy tales follow similar patterns and looking closer at the characters involved. Below is one of the fairy tales the children will study which is credited to Nazife Krasnići from Obilić, born 1900 died 1984.
