Promoting, raising awareness and protecting the rights of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities
Project is implemented in 4 municipalities of Kosovo where BSFK learning centers are located: Fushe Kosova, Gracanica, Shtime and Obliq. Project is implemented from 1 October 2020 until 31 March 2021
Main project objectives:
• Empowerment of Ashkali, Egyptian and Roma communities with a special focus on youth and women • Raising awareness of the Ashkali, Egyptian and Roma communities about their rights based on legal frameworks and government policies (with a specific focus on women) • Improving the socio-economic situation of the Ashkali, Egyptian and Roma communities.
Project results:
- About 50 members of the Ashkali, Egyptian and Roma communities are informed about the legal framework and mechanisms related to the protection of the rights of non-majority communities.
- About 25 women from the Ashkali, Egyptian and Roma communities have been trained and informed to research and apply for jobs.
- About 50 Ashkali, Egyptians and Roma are informed about the functioning of institutional mechanisms.
- About 2000 families from Ashkali, Egyptian and Roma communities are informed about the legal framework and mechanisms related to the protection of the rights of non-majority communities.
- About 30 young people from the Ashkali, Egyptian and Roma communities have developed advocacy skills to push forward the implementation of the legal framework related to the protection of the rights of non-majority communities.
